Letter from Dr Peter Wadhams to Michael Roll

Dr Peter Wadhams is a Reader in Polar Studies at Cambridge University. He holds a degree in Physics from the Cavendish Laboratory at Cambridge University.

In his letter, Dr Wadhams writes:

"(...) everyone in the UK is brought up from childhood (...) with basic Christian concepts which include the survival of death. But nobody (including priests) then thinks or says any more about it - indeed, death is a forbidden subject in our society."
"Acceptance of survival after death is something which produces a shattering change in one's whole outlook on life (...). In my case, it didn't, and I think I know why. It was just intellectual acceptance (...). I never achieved emotional acceptance of survival - which would mean being absolutely convinced by personal experience."
